A veteran of 30 years in the construction industry, Smith has served as President of the Nashville-Middle Tennessee Homebuilders Association. In 1982 he was appointed to a seven-year term as a member of the State Contractor's Licensing Board. Smith is presently a Senior Life Director of the National Association of Home Builders. He serves on the State Board for Licensing Contractors, Trustee of Battle Ground Academy and Martin Methodist College, Board member of Room In the Inn, Pinnacle Bank founder and Board member, B.S. from University of Tennessee Martin, Trustee Forest Hills United Methodist Church and International member of Grace Chapel, Leipers Fork, TN.
