For several years when visiting our daughter who lives in Franklin, Tennessee, she would take us to areas that were considered “senior friendly.” We wanted this move to be our decision and not one due to some medical emergency. Some places were too expensive, others were too small and did not have the amenities we were looking for. Since we were downsizing, we were looking for wall space inside for our antique furniture, no yard upkeep, maintenance free on the structure outside with reasonable HOA fees, and pleasing street appeal where each unit would have its own distinct personality. We also wanted a patio and a double-covered carport. We desired to be near shopping areas, medical facilities, churches, easy access to the Nashville airport since we travel often and near our daughter who would eventually be our caregiver. We spent much time in prayer seeking God’s direction in this very important decision.
After several visits to Villages of Morningside II, we began to feel very comfortable with the location, inside layout, and felt we had found a place where we would be pleased to live. The agent at the model was very helpful in answering our questions and giving us ample time to walk through the unit, measuring wall space, examining closets, and outside storage space. The clubhouse and pool were a plus and being near the YMCA where we could exercise regularly was most helpful.
One Sunday afternoon before we made our decision to purchase our unit, we decided to make one more visit to the model home before returning to our home in Alabama. On this Sunday afternoon, we met the builder, Mr. Steve Smith, of Haury and Smith. As we visited with Steve, I felt we were meeting a gentleman with integrity and one whose word was his bond. He answered our questions with honesty and fairness and we just knew he would stand behind his product. We paid our earnest money that day and have never regretted our decision to purchase a unit in Villages of Morningside II. Mr. Smith stood behind every promise he made to us.
Since moving into our unit, we have become even more pleased with our choice. It is amazing how much wall space and storage we have with ample space to entertain and have house guests. We have renewed friendships we had known for years and met many new friends while walking in our neighborhood. We have enjoyed the fellowships that are planned for the residents of the Villages of Morningside II in our clubhouse. We have found a wonderful church just five minutes from our home where we have made additional new friends.
We are grateful that God led us to where we need to be now and where we will be comfortable in the years to come.
